Marie-Antoinette

Now I go about one of the most exhausting movies in terms of costumes: Sofia Coppola's Marie-Antoinette. Why exhausting ? Because Kirsten Dunst doesn't wear 10 dresses nor 20 but 60 (2mn30 per gown if you consider that the movie lasts 2 hours). Even if I disliked this movie (I even slept the first time), I must admit that Milena Canonera did a great job, the gowns are real works of art. I especially love the I-want-candies period and the Trianon dresses.

You know what ? I deserve a medal for spending 3 hours collecting all these gowns.

goodbye

In spite of everything I have against this movie, I must admit that Sofia Coppola is a kind of a genius. Not because Marie-Antoinette is the movie of the century (oh no) but because she created something that inspired (and still inspires) a whole generation of girls. How many chicks were into eating Ladurée macaroons in pastel clothes while listening to down tempo before this ? Or maybe were them well-hidden.

Anyway, what is your favorite gown ? I'm undecided, I love the pink bows dress (10th picture), the garden dress (12th pic.) and the ermine collar dress (27th).

Lemony Snicket

Let's get off to a good start with our godmother, Colleen Atwood, who is to me one of the best costume designers ever. She has collaborated several times with Tim Burton and been involved in producing the costumes on over fifty movies like Chicago (Academy Award winning), Memoirs of a geisha (Academy Award winning), Big Fish or Sweeey Todd (each of them to be review soon).

Here are some screencaps and promo pictures of Lemony Snicket: A Series of Unfortunate Events (Academy Award nominated, even if she should have won) :
